Gregor Mendel

     

Gregor Mendel (July 22, 1822 January 6, 1884) was a German priest and scientist, and is considered the "father of modern genetics. Mendel studied pea plants and bees during his time at an abbey. Gregor Mendel was born in Hyncice in what is now the Czech Republic. The Mendel family worked on a farm, where Mendel was a gardener and learned beekeeping.
