George Washington

     

George Washington (February 22, 1732 - December 14,1799) was born in Westmoreland County, Va. His came from a wealthy family of English heritage, and lived in Pope's Creek on the Potomac River. Washingtons first job as a teen as a surveyor, from this job he was able to learn much about Virginia from his travels. One of the most famous stories of George Washington was when he supposedly chopped down his fathers cherry tree. Nearly all historians say the story was a fabrication by Mason Locke Weems. Weems toured the country selling the book he wrote which was the first biography of George Washington ever written.
