Panama Canal

The concept of building the Panama Canal dates back to the 1500s when the King of Spain ordered an expedition to see if there was a feasible way to cross with a boat through Panama. This photo shows one of the locks of the Panama Canal - can you find the three differences in this photo hunt puzzle?

In the late 1800s France tried to create a canal simply by dredging, and they did not do proper surveying. The result was that the effort was scrapped after over 20,000 workers died of malaria.
