Acropolis
When the Romans conquered Greece in the 1st century BC many of the great Greek works of art were stolen. During this time the Acropolis went through some renovations to fix damages from age. Later when Christianity began to spread throughout Europe, the temples on the Acropolis were converted into Christian churches. The Parthenon actually became a church to Saint Mary. |
