George Washington

     

After the war, George Washington attended the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. When the Constitution was ratified by the states in 1789, George Washington was unanimously elected as the first President of the United States. Washington served two terms as president and proved to be an excellent leader. Much of his work as president was done to create the structure of the executive branch with future presidents in mind.
