Christopher Columbus
On October 12th land was finally sighted and they named the island San Salvador. Columbus explored the island in the Bahamas for 5 days, and then continued his voyage and discovered Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Columbus returned to Spain on March 15, 1493 and gave an extensive briefing to Ferdinand and Isabella. Word quickly spread throughout Europe about Columbus discovery of the New World. |
