Alexander Graham Bell (March 3, 1847 - August 2, 1922) was actually born in Edinburgh, Scotland. His mother was an accomplished pianist/artist, and his dad was a voice expert and specialized in teaching the deaf to talk.
After attending college in Edinburgh and London Alexander Graham Bell went to work for his father in helping the deaf. He experimented with tuning forks and magnets to produce sounds, and also studied the vibrations of vocal chords.
