Marie Currie

     

Marie Curie (November 7, 1867 July 4, 1934) was a Polish/French physicist that broke new ground in the area of radioactivity. She became the first person to win two Nobel Prizes, and died from complications to her work in radioactivity. Marie Curie was born Maria Sklodowska in Warsaw, Poland. Her parents were respected teachers and her mother ran a boarding school in Warsaw that she later attended.
