The Louvre

     

The Louvre was actually a fortress that was built in the 1100s for King Philip II Augustus. The old fortress is still there, but there have been many additions that have taken place since then. The Louvre is now 652,300 square feet. Did you find the 3 changes? Click to see the next puzzle.

The Louvre opened as a museum on August 10, 1793 - four years after the French Revolution. During this time it housed mostly paintings.
