Leaning Tower of Pisa

     

AMany may be familiar with that story that Galileo Galilei dropped two balls of different sizes from the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in order of prove that objects fall at the same speed. Two large repair projects took place in the late 1990s and 2008. The repairs helped stabilize the tower by removing earth from the ground under the high side of the tower. This lessened the lean from 5.5 degrees to 4 degrees.
