The movie King Kong gave the Empire State Building a lasting iconic image. The film was shot just after the Empire State Building opened. The film opened in New York City on March 2, 1933. King Kong leading lady Fay Wray passed away in August 8, 2004 and the age of 96. On August 10th the lights of the Empire State Building were turned off for 15 minutes as a memorial to Fay Wray. |
