Buckingham Palace

     

During World War II Buckingham Palace was bombed seven times and the palace chapel was destroyed during one of the raids. There was much national propaganda of the bombings to show how all Englanders were suffering from the war even the royal family. Ray Holmes was a famous RAF pilot who ran out of ammunition and resorted to ramming a German plane that was trying to bomb Buckingham Palace. After World War II, Buckingham Palace was the site of many post-war celebrations.
