Big Ben

The present bell of Big Ben is actually the second bell that was created for the tower. The original bell was 16 tons and was created in August of 1856. During initial testing it cracked and was beyond repair. Did you find the 3 changes? Click to see the next puzzle.

A second replacement Big Ben bell was created that was 13 tons. It was installed in 1859 and it also cracked, but the hammer was found to have been set to strike too strongly. The crack was able to be repaired and was turned away from the striking point of the hammer and has been in use ever since.
