Andrew Waugh spotted Mount Everest in 1847 and believed that it was taller than Kangchenjunga, but he did not have precise enough equipment to consider his findings 100% accurate. Andrew Waugh came back to the Himalayas two years later and took much more precise readings of Mount Everest. It wouldnt be until 1856 until he processed all his data and published his findings about Mount Everest. |
