Gregor Mendel

Gregor Mendel created two fundamental principles of genetics that are now known as; 1) the law of segregation and, 2) the law of independent assortment.

Mendel published his work, but the significance of his discoveries was not recognized until after his death. When the scientific world rediscovered his work the science of modern genetics was created.
