George Washington

George Washington was a delegate at the First and Second Continental Congresses. And as tensions with England were escalating, Washington was the Congress's unanimous choice as commander in chief of the Continental forces.

During the Revolutionary War Washington proved to be an excellent commander. Probably his most famous maneuver was the capture of Trenton, which took place when Washington crossed the Delaware River on Christmas night in 1776. This victory proved to be a huge morale booster during the war.
