Franklin D. Roosevelt

As the allies began winning the war, Roosevelt was a big proponent of creating a United Nations. He devoted much thought to how international disputes could be peacefully resolved with a governing body so that future wars could be prevented.

As the war was drawing to a close, and just after his 4th term inauguration, Roosevelt died of a cerebral hemorrhage while sitting for a portrait in Warm Springs, Georgia on April 12, 1945.
