Christopher Columbus
King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella I wanted to expand their empire so they decided to take up Columbus on his offer. They agreed to his contract and allowed him to be Governor of the lands he discovered. And even gave him 10% of the profits from the new discoveries.

Columbus journey to the new world began on August 3, 1492. He left with 3 ships Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. He did not set sail directly to the Americas, he sailed to the Canary Islands, to test out his ships and crew. After he replenished supplies there he continued on his journey. |
