Adam Smith also talked about division of labor and used an example of pins to illustrate his point. Smith said that ten workers could produce 48,000 pins per day if each of the eighteen specialized tasks in making a pin was assigned to specific workers.
So if 10 workers made 48,000 pins per day then 48,000/10 = 4,800 pins per worker per day. But if you didnt have this division of labor, 1 worker would be lucky to produce even one pin per day.
