As Hitler and the Nazi party were expanding through Europe Winston Churchill became very vocal about building up Englands defense. Many people in government did not think a military buildup was a priority. When the war with Germany began Churchill was back at his post of first lord of the admiralty. Then in 1940 Neville Chamberlain stepped down as prime minister, and Churchill stepped in as prime minister. |
