Eleanor Roosevelt

     

When FDR became president she traveled throughout the US becoming the eyes and ears for her husband. She inspired Americans during the Great Depression and became a advocate for the rights of women and minorities. When WWII broke out she became a world figure and traveled to visit the troops. When her husband died President Harry Truman appointed her as delegate to the United Nations. Eleanor felt that her crowning achievement in life was in helping to create and pass the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
