The Allies put their military build-up into high-gear, and with the addition of the US entering the war from Pearl Harbor, began a huge counteroffensive on the Axis Powers. The European War ended on May 8, 1945, and the War in the Pacific ended three months later on August 15, 1945. After the war the United Nations was created to be a governing body of countries so that views between countries could be expressed in the hopes that wars in the future could be prevented. |
